This species was first discovered in Cheshire on 23rd June 2008 by Matt and Ron Thomas on the Dee at Crewe-by-Farndon. Several individuals have also been seen on the Welsh bank in this area and it is possible that there is a nearby colony on suitable water somewhere nearby.
