This two pot limekiln stands alongside the West Looe River and was working from at least the 1780s. It is shown as disused on the 1881 OS Map. When the lessee died in 1822 there was 850 tons of limestone sitting here and a further 810 tons at East and West Looe. All stone and culm for burning here had to be brought up the river by boat.

When I visited in 2013 this kiln was decrepit and beginning to collapse but I have now received images from the site owner that show how it has been extensively repaired and restored. It is heartening to see a kiln getting some TLC and the owner is to be congratulated for taking action to conserve a little bit of Cornish industrial heritage.
