Adjacent to the former Cromford and High Peak Railway stand the remains of two large kilns whuch were probably operated by the Wirksworth Stone & Mineral Co which ran the nearby Manystones quarry which was connected to the railway by a tramway. They appear to have been abandoned before 1910.
