There are two kilns at this remote upland site. This page covers the better preserved example which faces west with its back towards the quarry area. On a sunny day this was a delightful spot but it must have been a terrible place to work when the wind howled and rain poured down. Luckily for those involved, the season for burning in intermittent kilns such as this was usually over by November.
