This Grade II Listed partially-restored lime kiln roasted the imported limestone from Pembrokeshire and Cornwall to make a fertilizer. The 1841 Llandysiliogogo Tithe Map shows no kiln and by the end of the century the trade had past its zenith so presumably the kilns were built in this period. John Owens, farmer of Ciliau, Cwmtudu, who operated six coastal vessels from New Quay totalling 750 tons was no doubt a frequent trader with the kilns here as a Certificate of Competency as Master was issued to him in April 1865.
