Llanelly Quarry supplied stone to the Clydach ironworks via tramroad inclines in the early 19th century. With the opening of the railway from Merthyr to Abergavenny a siding conection was built into the quarry. A two pot kiln remains adjacent to the railway although much is now obscured by overgrowth. The quarry itself is a spectacular cut into the landscape which is notable for the silence to be found there. |
