Built adjacent to the Montgomery Canal the two banks comprising eight limekilns at Belan were built by the Canal Company and Powys Estate. The left hand pair of this block may date from the early nineteenth century* and the other two could be slightly later with subsequent modifications. *Hughes, Stephen, The Archaeology of the Montgomeryshire Canal, RCAHM in Wales, 1983. |
