At Marbury Big Mere (54M SJ557457) Martin Pennell found Brown Hawker, Southern Hawker, Emperor Dragonfly, Ruddy Darter, Emerald Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, and Azure Damselfly. At Sound Common (64E SJ619480) there were Emperor Dragonfly, Ruddy Darter, Blue-tailed Damselfly, and Azure Damselfly.

A male Lesser Emperor was seen today at Inner Marsh Farm (37B SJ308734) by Colin Davies and Ray Banks.

It was good to receive records from the ponds at Handforth (88R SJ870835) where Stu Burnet saw Common Blue Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Azure Damselfly, and Brown Hawker.

A trip along the Shropshire Union Canal between Nantwich (65F) and Audlem (64L) was notable for the large numbers of Banded Demoiselle seen along the way. Bryan Roberts had a look at the ponds around Wood Lane in Mobberley (78V SJ793818) where he found Emperor Dragonfly, Common Darter, and Emerald Damselfly.

At Castlefield in Runcorn (58G SJ537825) toaday Alan Lee found a teneral male Migrant Hawker roosting on a hanging basket. It stayed for a couple of days until the sun came out and then it was away.

Richard Gabb visited at Hatchmere (57L SJ551721) and found Variable Damselfly, a single Brown Hawker and a single female Black Darter. Meanwhile Mat Bingham was at Vale Royal (67K SJ640703) where he found plenty of Blue-tailed Damselfly and a few Azure Damselfly. Over at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ663513) Bob Bradshaw reports sighting Blue-tailed Damselfly with Common Blue Damselfly and Azure Damselfly, but no dragonflies.

Another male Brown Hawker in Macclesfield (97G SJ922734) was found in the street by Karen Abbott and Tom Murphy.

A Brown Hawker was flying over Macclesfield Riverside Park (97C SJ906753) this morning.

A positive sighting of a male Golden-ringed Dragonfly comes from Neil Friswell who was bird surveying at Bickley Hall Farm (54I SJ532474). He also saw Southern Hawker, Brown Hawker, Common Blue Damselfly, and Azure Damselfly. Richard Gabb headed for Petty Pool Brook (66J SJ624695) this afternoon in search of Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo). He was soon rewarded with seeing two males on territory. Earlier in the day at Hatchmere (57L SJ551721) there were plenty of Variable Damselfly flying.

Today at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ663513) Bob Bradshaw reports plenty of Blue-tailed Damselfly with Common Blue Damselfly and Azure Damselfly.

Steve Seal visited Brereton Heath Park (76X SJ7965) and reports seeing Broad-bodied Chaser, Southern Hawker and Common Blue Damselfly.
