Today whilst surveying some ponds on the moors in Sutton (97Q SJ9670) I saw Four-spotted Chaser, Large Red Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Azure Damselfly, and a teneral male Emerald Damselfly.

A male Broad-bodied Chaser was on territory at my garden pond in Macclesfield (87W SJ8973) this morning. Paul Hill reports a Migrant Hawker at Allostock (77K SJ747712) and a couple of Brown Hawker at Shakerley Mere (77F SJ733708). Sally Davies spotted three Banded Demoiselle on the canal at Dunham (78I SJ731877).

Another Golden-ringed Dragonfly record from close to the Dee, this time from Farndon (45C) where Daniel Carruthers spotted one in a garden.

A new species for Poynton Pool (98H SJ923845) is Black-tailed Skimmer which was spottted there today by Steve Hind.

Martin Pennell found thirteen species flying at Marbury Big Mere (54M SJ557457). These were Brown Hawker, Emperor Dragonfly, Four-spotted Chaser, Broad-bodied Chaser, Black-tailed Skimmer, Banded Demoiselle, Large Red Damselfly. Emerald Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Red-eyed Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Azure Damselfly, and Variable Damselfly. At Sound Common (64E SJ619480) there were seven species including , Emperor Dragonfly, Four-spotted Chaser, and Broad-bodied Chaser.

Phil Corley was at Rixton Claypits (69V SJ685907) today where he recorded abundant Black-tailed Skimmer and Four-spotted Chaser with twelve male and two female male Broad-bodied Chaser. Two male and a female Emperor Dragonfly were also present.

Seven species were recorded at Anderton Nature Park (67M SJ651751) by Dave HT. This included teneral Common Darter plus Emperor Dragonfly, Four-spotted Chaser, Red-eyed Damselfly and still plenty of Large Red Damselfly. Alan Redley was also on site today and spotted an ovipositing Emperor Dragonfly at the Anglers' ponds

Pete Antrobus saw female Broad-bodied Chaser and Emperor Dragonfly At Dairyhouse Meadow (67S SJ664757) today.

At Dairyhouse Meadow (67S SJ664757) Paul Hill saw several teneral Common Darter and a single Brown Hawker.

Today at Clincton Woods ponds, Widnes (48X SJ483852) Paul Hillyer found Emperor Dragonfly, Four-spotted Chaser, Broad-bodied Chaser, Banded Demoiselle, Large Red Damselfly, Azure Damselfly, and Blue-tailed Damselfly.

Paul Hill spotted a couple of Common Darter in Northwich town centre (67L).

On the golf course at Gorstyhill (75K SJ742512) Martin Pennell found Common Blue Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, and Azure Damselfly. On a field pond at Heath Farm (75F SJ723509) were Four-spotted Chaser, Blue-tailed Damselfly, and Azure Damselfly.

Peter Heywood reports a single female Black-tailed Skimmer at Aldford (45E SJ415596) with plenty of Banded Demoiselle and several Red-eyed Damselfly and Azure Damselfly. Meanwhile at Vale Royal (67K SJ640703) Mat Bingham found only damselflies. He saw Banded Demoiselle, Red-eyed Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly and Azure Damselfly. From Tatton Mere (78K SJ753809) Chris Storey reports abundant Red-eyed Damselfly and a couple of Four-spotted Chaser.

At Aldford (45E SJ415596) this morning Phil Corley found the first White-legged Damselfly of the season, a solitary male. Hopefully there will be more around as soon as we get some sun.

Bob Bradshaw reports plenty of damselflies at Stapeley Water Gardens (65Q SJ663513) where Blue-tailed Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly and Azure Damselfly were suffering a certain amount of predation by the local Robin. He also saw a single Large Red Damselfly and Four-spotted Chaser.

Walking along the River Weaver at Vale Royal (67K SJ640703) Bryan Roberts saw 13 Hairy Dragonfly including a tandem pair. There were also plenty of Red-eyed Damselfly and Banded Demoiselle with a couple of Four-spotted Chaser

A walk to a pond in Whirley (87S SJ871742) yielded small numbers of Common Blue Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, and Azure Damselfly. Surprisingly there were no dragonflies present. At Anderton Nature Park (67M SJ651753) Pete Leicester found nine species at the fishing ponds including an ovipositing Hairy Dragonfly, Emperor Dragonfly and plenty of Red-eyed Damselfly. Martin Pennell visited a small field pond in Hurleston (65C SJ613542) where he saw Four-spotted Chaser and Broad-bodied Chaser.

Bryan Roberts reports several pairs of Large Red Damselfly and a freshly emerged Four-spotted Chaser at his garden pond in Knutsford (77P SJ7479).
